IIT Bombay is a public technical university, located in Powai, Mumbai. The college was established in 1958 over a campus area of 545 acres of land. IIT Bombay is the first public research university and technical institute to be founded with foreign assistance (Soviet). IIT Bombay’s status as deemed university and recognition as an “Institute of National Importance by the Indian Government’ solidifies its esteem status. IIT Bombay offers more than 200 UG, PG, and research programs via its 17 departments. IIT Bombay consists of 15 academic departments, 34 centers, 17 departments, and three schools on its campus. Having 15 dorms plus in-house dining, the institute is residential. In addition, the campus offers excellent recreational and sports facilities and exemplary placements. During the first round of placements 2023-24, 22 students received job offers for more than INR 1 crore per annum from organizations such as Airbus, Apple, Google, Intel, and many more. In addition, 63 students accepted offers from abroad. Among the 1,188 students that were placed, 1,340 employment offers were made. There are 297 PPOs and 7 PSUs in all.
